ASTIN WEIGHT Established in 1956 by Raymond Astin and Donald Weight. Production began in 1959. Very unusual design in that the soundboard is attached to the back of the pin block at the top, rather than the bottom. It also has a full iron frame that supports the whole piano - thus no wooden back braces are needed. This gives a much larger soundboard. Patent was applied for in 1969.
